According to the Government Portal, on the afternoon of September 6, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Tim Hughes, SpaceX's Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Global Business, who visited and worked in Vietnam.

The trip took place on the occasion of Vietnam and the US celebrating the first anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (September 2023).

Also in September last year, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh paid a working visit to the US and received many leaders of this country's corporations, including Mr. Tim Hughes.

Welcome SpaceX investment in Vietnam

At today's meeting, the Prime Minister hoped to continue promoting and deepening relations with the United States, especially cooperation in science and technology, innovation, high-tech industry and semiconductors, which have been identified as important pillars in the relationship between the two countries.

Believing that the economic relationship between Vietnam and the US is not commensurate with the potential and the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always creates the most favorable conditions for US businesses to succeed in Vietnam, in the spirit of "harmonious benefits and shared risks".

Regarding Vietnam's development strategy, the head of the Government stated that Vietnam is building a digital government, digital economy, digital society, digital citizens, etc. Therefore, he hopes that large technology businesses, including SpaceX, will cooperate and invest in Vietnam.

Proposal to transfer technology, help Vietnam train human resources

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed SpaceX's interest in and investment in Vietnam, highly appreciated the group's ideas and proposals for investment cooperation in Vietnam, and hoped that these proposals would soon become reality.

The head of the Government also said that Vietnam has sufficient conditions in terms of infrastructure and mechanisms and policies for businesses in general, including SpaceX, to effectively invest and do business in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister asked SpaceX to coordinate with relevant ministries, branches and agencies of Vietnam to implement cooperation projects, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, ensuring information network security and safety.

He also asked SpaceX to transfer technology, train human resources, and management experience, helping Vietnam build a smooth infrastructure, smart management, and open mechanisms.

At the same time, expand partnerships with Vietnamese businesses, focusing on increasing the content of high technology, digital technology, and green technology. In addition, developing supporting industries, developing ecosystems, R&D..., bringing Vietnam deeper into the global value chain.

Mr. Tim Huges affirmed that he will cooperate and coordinate closely with Vietnamese partners and enterprises, especially in the areas that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh discussed.
