North-South high-speed railway project to be submitted to Politburo soon

The Ministry is urgently completing the project's pre-feasibility study report to submit to the National Assembly for consideration and investment policy decision in the upcoming October session.
The North-South high-speed railway project has a length of 1,541km, proposed to be invested in a double-track scale, 1,435mm gauge, electrification, and infrastructure designed for a speed of 350km/h.
According to current calculations, the total investment for the project is about 67 billion USD, mainly using public investment capital.
The route will start from Ngoc Hoi station (Hanoi), pass through 20 provinces and cities and end at Thu Thiem station (HCMC). Along the route, there are 23 passenger stations with an average distance of about 67km, 5 freight stations connected to freight hubs.
The Ministry of Transport proposed to focus resources on starting the Hanoi - Vinh and Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang component projects, with a total length of about 642km, around the end of 2027; starting the Vinh - Nha Trang section (about 899km long) before 2030; striving to complete the entire route by 2035.
