Robotacon Wro 2024 contestants need to program robots to perform simulation tasks at Vinamilk Green Farm, learning more about technology for sustainable development.

The Robotacon Wro 2024 competition attracted 1,500 students from 500 teams across the country. On August 23-24, Robotacon entered the national final round in Ho Chi Minh City. With the theme "Earth Allies", in the competition, the teams went through many main tasks, and at the same time received challenges from Vinamilk.

According to Vinamilk's representative, accompanying the competition this year with the desire to bring the experience of becoming "Earth Allies" to students through unexpected challenges. The challenges were designed based on examples of practical robot applications for sustainable development in production activities at Vinamilk Green Farm.

With the competition topic "sustainable agriculture - green farm", the contestants designed and programmed robots to help fertilize corn fields with organic fertilizer. This is an activity applied at the Vinamilk Green Farm ecological farm, which is using modern technology to care for more than 20,000 dairy cows. The farm's "green cycle" helps turn cow waste into organic fertilizer for the corn fields.

Contestants also control robots on a simulation model of the Vinamilk factory to move milk cartons to the correct location. The robot's path needs to be calculated accurately and quickly. This is also the actual task of LGV robots at the milk factory. Vinamilk is applying technology (robots, AI) in transporting goods, smart warehouses, using green energy, solar energy, etc. to reduce emissions and optimize energy use.

The organizers also brought a "green city" challenge, using robots to move green blocks and milk cartons to locations in the city. The robots use solar energy to collect and recycle cartons into useful items.

According to Pham Cong Minh, grade 5, Vinschool Ocean Park Primary School, this competition poses many interesting and novel requirements and helps to understand more about the environment and technology. "I learned more about the farms. I also learned that dairy cows listen to music and get automatic massages... so I really want to visit Vinamilk's farm and learn about the software and robots used to take care of dairy cows," Cong Minh said.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Tien - former Deputy Head of Secondary Education Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, head of the professional advisory board, said that with this challenge, the organizing committee hopes that contestants and teams will gain more knowledge and raise awareness of environmental protection. In addition, understanding how robots operate and apply in life and production will help students develop their thinking about applying technology, and come up with many initiatives for environmental activities and sustainable development.

Vinamilk, the main sponsor, presented the "Raising The Bar Awards" to the excellent teams that overcame the unexpected challenge. In addition, contestants who reached the final round also had the opportunity to experience the reality at Vinamilk Green Farm Tay Ninh and Vietnam Dairy Factory (Mega) in Binh Duong.

The 16 excellent teams of Robotacon Wro 2024 will represent Vietnam at the International Robot Creation Competition in Singapore and the World Robot Olympiad 2024 in Türkiye.
