Located in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia (USA), the 93m2 apartment was quite well designed but not fashionable.

In 2023, designer Gabriela Eisenhart of Silo Studios was hired to renovate the dark and outdated living space.

The client requested a modern style apartment, so Gabriela made sure to leave no stone unturned in the renovation of the kitchen, living room, bedroom, and entryway.

The end result, a small apartment with an attractive and personality-filled open design, with a prominent Marilyn Monroe painting as a highlight in the living room.

1. Living room

Although well-invested, the outdated wooden cabinet system and overly dark colors make the apartment feel cramped and gloomy.

After: Modern and Stylish

The new living room is a balance of unique elements, such as a checkered rug, a U-shaped floor lamp, and a Marilyn Monroe painting by renowned local artist Steve Penley.

This is complemented by modern touches such as a black ceiling fan, brass wall sconces, and characterful furniture.

2. Relaxation corner

Although invested in thoroughly and quite neatly, this relaxation corner still has a dull, gloomy feeling like the general atmosphere in the living room.

After: Artistic and Colorful

Although fully equipped, the kitchen of the previous apartment was old-fashioned and lacked personality.

After: Simple and stylish in black and white

The modern kitchen is updated with a predominantly black and white color scheme, softened by wooden details, greenery, and a ceramic-gray wall panel.

Scandinavian design elements such as the range hood, island, and curved wooden bar stools add character to the kitchen.

4. Kitchen island - small bar

Like the old kitchen, this kitchen island and small bar looked dull and uninspiring.

A modern black-and-white kitchen and kitchen island/bar are updated with a softer look thanks to wood details, greenery, and a ceramic-gray backsplash.

5. Master bedroom

Similarly, the master bedroom in the apartment feels dark and cramped despite being quite elaborately decorated and modern.

The new bedroom features a crisp white finish that accentuates the slatted wood wall, creating a timeless and trendy space.

The designer also successfully used this shade with wallpaper, giving the living space a special sense of peace and tranquility, yet no less personality.

More than just a matter of choice, a suitable and perfectly designed staircase will become the focal point of the house.
