Resort model
The garden house has a one-story, tiled roof, built on a 1,300 m2 plot of land in Tay Ninh, and is home to a couple and their two children.
In order to avoid spending a lot of time traveling to tourist destinations during each holiday, the homeowner chose to save money to buy land and build a garden house, which can serve both living and working at home, while also having plenty of space to relax and organize parties with friends. The team of architects at Story Architecture has come up with a design solution for a project with full functionality, meeting both the needs of living and relaxing at the same time.

The house is designed with a traditional tiled roof, helping to blend in with the surrounding neighborhood, but choosing a gray tone to bring a youthful and dynamic feeling.
The swimming pool and BBQ area are arranged in the backyard, ensuring privacy for the homeowner and not affecting the neighbors. The swimming pool combined with the garden, the outdoor stone bathtub brings a relaxing feeling like in a resort, helping the homeowner relieve pressure, while also having more space to play on holidays.

Airy space
The house has a scale of one floor, a construction area of 260 m2, located on a 1,641 m2 plot of land in Dong Nai. The homeowner is an elderly couple, wishing to have a quiet living space to enjoy their old age, spacious enough to welcome their children and grandchildren to visit during each holiday.
With the weather characteristics of the Southeast region, heat-resistant and ventilation solutions are always a top priority. The design team CTA Creative Architects chose to use a large, wide-spreading roof system that covers most of the functional spaces, while also being inflated, creating an insulating space between the roof and the ceiling. The top is covered with heat-resistant tiles to absorb most of the heat from the sunlight, and the ceiling below is covered with an additional layer of plaster and wood.

To allow natural wind to circulate throughout the house, ventilation is handled on both the ground plan and the cross-section of the building. Accordingly, the window system, doors and Z-shaped louvers are responsible for pushing hot air from the inside and welcoming cool wind from the outside. In parallel, applying the block separation technique, the functional blocks are separated from each other and connected by wind corridors.
For rural houses, most daily activities take place on the porch. Therefore, the design team arranged a large porch area in front of the house, combined with green landscape to create a spacious space, suitable for the homeowner to sit and drink tea and chat with neighbors.
Incorporating traditional elements
The house has a total floor area of 108 m2, located on a 294 m2 plot of land in Hoc Mon (HCMC). Located in the suburbs - where the houses are not yet close together and most of them have corrugated iron roofs - the entire structure of the building is inspired by traditional Vietnamese houses. The tiled roof system rises and falls from low to high, creating rhythm and has a moderate slope to drain water quickly, ensuring sustainability.

The TTDESIGN design team divided the house structure into three main parts. The outside part is the garden, combined with a place to rest, drink coffee or organize outdoor BBQ parties. Next is the house part, with a large porch for convenient reading and enjoying the breeze. The living room and kitchen are arranged outside, separated from the bedroom by a garden, limiting the view with layers of green trees.

The materials used for the project are mostly of rough and rustic characteristics, bringing a sense of simplicity and closeness. The common living space includes a living room, a kitchen and dining area, which are connected, without partitions, overlooking the front garden.
