Khanh Hoa leads in number of visitors in South Central Coast

Khanh Hoa exceeded the target of welcoming 9 million visitors this year and aims for more than 10 million by the end of the year, surpassing other localities in the region.

Mr. Cung Quynh Anh, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, said that in the first 9 months of 2024, Khanh Hoa province welcomed 9 million overnight guests, an increase of 57% compared to 2023, completing the annual plan. Of which, international visitors reached 3.6 million - exceeding the plan by 20% and domestic visitors reached 5.4 million - reaching 90% of the target. Total tourism revenue reached more than 44,000 billion VND.

The number of visitors is higher than famous tourist localities in the South Central region such as Binh Dinh (more than 8 million), Binh Thuan (7.4 million), Da Nang (8.7 million).

Mr. Anh said that the province strives to reach more than 10 million visitors by the end of the year and will focus on mountain and forest tourism, community tourism associated with environmental protection, including a project to develop a community tourism site in Bich Dam, Hon Tre Island, Vinh Nguyen Ward, Nha Trang City.

According to Mr. Anh, the last months of the year are the low tourist season in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. The locality is coordinating with tourism sectors and businesses to implement stimulus packages and reduce accommodation prices. "The completion of the Nha Trang - Ho Chi Minh City expressway will facilitate individual groups and families coming to the locality. However, more activities are needed to keep tourists staying longer," Mr. Anh said.

Regarding solutions to promote the international tourist market, the Department of Tourism leader said that many investment promotion programs have been implemented in China, South Korea, and India since the beginning of the year, contributing to diversifying the source of international tourists.

Explaining the number of visitors exceeding the plan in 2024, Mr. Pham Minh Nhut, Permanent Vice President of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, said that the locality has recently organized many international events, notably the Drone Light Competition - Nha Trang International Light Bay 2024.

In addition, through a survey, Mr. Nhut said that many international tourists appreciate Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa for its hospitable people and diverse and rich cuisine. In the coming time, the locality will increase the application of digital transformation in tourism, helping tourists better understand Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa, avoiding some risks when traveling here.

In 2024, the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association has launched the "Following the footsteps of Dr. Yersin" tour and is renovating historical and cultural sites such as Dien Khanh citadel and Ba Vu mausoleum in Ninh Hoa town, contributing to diversifying and increasing the number of visitors in the future.

The provincial tourism industry is making efforts to improve the quality of tourism services. "If there are negative reports, the association will intervene immediately, such as the recent case of hotel booking fraud in the city," said Mr. Nhut.
