With a coastline stretching 2,000 miles from north to south, Vietnam has a lot to offer.
"I first visited in 2004 and have been back many times since. It's easy to find a Vietnam itinerary, from the historic capital Hanoi, serene Ha Long Bay, bustling Hoi An and bustling Ho Chi Minh City. But go a little further and you'll be rewarded with some of the country's most memorable and wonderful experiences," writes author Claire Boobbyer.
According to the author, a magical excursion beyond the familiar destinations of Ha Long Bay or the capital Hanoi; then opt for a thrilling motorbike ride through the winding roads of the remote mountains of Ha Giang; enjoy the atmosphere on Cat Ba Island and explore the history, cuisine and pristine beaches of Con Dao Island is considered the best.
And of course, the irresistible drinks: good coffee, craft cocktails and beer will leave a special impression on visitors.
Here is a memorable itinerary, which according to the author are the best places to visit in Vietnam:
The capital Hanoi
Hanoi offers a diverse cultural space interspersed with a vibrant Old Quarter. According to the author, the city offers a fascinating historical and cultural space with many museums. The shops, markets and street food also provide a unique experience of local life.

"Don't miss the Old Quarter experience, the heart of the city, where you'll find plenty of food, hotels juxtaposed with shops and local life. Some of the capital's famous destinations: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo Prison and Vietnam Museum of Ethnology are all worth exploring," the author writes.
Ha Giang
Ha Giang is a mountainous border province in the far north of Vietnam, with a particularly important strategic position. This destination offers majestic landscapes with high peaks, mountain passes and rice fields below.
Visiting the villages of the Red Dao, the Flower H'Mong and other local ethnic minorities will bring a special experience.
Or visitors can also turn to the markets and eco-lodges to explore local life with timeless traditions such as weaving.

Pu Luong and Mai Chau
Not far from Hanoi are these idyllic retreats set amidst lush green rice paddies.
"In Pu Luong, with its eco-lodges and lodges, trek through rice paddies and Muong orchards and cruise downriver on traditional bamboo rafts. All offer stunning views," the author writes.
To the north, meanwhile, is the beautiful Mai Chau Valley, also a serene landscape of rice paddies.
Da Lat
Da Lat is surrounded by charming early 20th-century houses and villas, markets, flower gardens and waterfalls.

Today, the city is full of cute bars and cafes and is a great place to explore.
With its charming tranquility and spectacular terrain, this mountain resort town attracts all types of visitors, from couples looking for a romantic space or travelers with health care needs to adventurous trips and solo travelers for a free experience.
Amidst the peaceful and quiet space, Da Lat appears with a dreamy and poetic scene thanks to the cold of the plateau at night and the morning mist, stretching along the vast pine forests surrounding it.
Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City is a vibrant city. The city offers a wonderful street food paradise, with a wide selection of craft beers, spirits and cocktails, giving visitors a full, contagious energy.
"Don't miss the chance to explore the city on a motorbike or visit top sites like the Cu Chi tunnels. And coffee is a must-try when you're here," the author writes.
