Cyclo contributes to building Nha Trang tourism image

After 1 year of establishment, cyclo from Nha Trang Tourist Cyclo Union has become a tourism product contributing to building the image of Nha Trang tourism.

"From individual lives, wandering to make a living, now cyclo workers have brothers who stand side by side on every road, helping each other overcome difficulties in life" - Mr. Nhat shared.

Having joined the union for nearly a year, Mr. Pham Van Hien (from Phu Yen) used to work as a bricklayer and farmer. After the COVID-19 pandemic, because he had no job, he went to Nha Trang with his cyclo driver friend and applied to join the union with the hope of having a place to work.

"Before working as a freelancer, I didn't think I would join any organization, but when I saw many colleagues joining the union, having organized activities, having teams, groups connecting with each other, supporting each other to increase income, and stabilizing their lives very systematically, I joined the labor force until now" - Mr. Hien said.

Creating connections for tourist cyclo drivers

Established in December 2023 with more than 250 initial members, the Nha Trang Tourism Cyclo Union has now grown to 515 members, divided into 8 groups operating in the city. Of which, there are 12 female members.

According to the Nha Trang City Labor Federation, the organization of the union has created connections and solidarity for cyclo drivers, however, there are still cases of working outside the union, causing insecurity, disorder and traffic safety in the city.

The Nha Trang City Labor Federation believes that strictly enforcing traffic laws for rudimentary vehicles, handling impersonation of union members, building solidarity in a disciplined working environment... are solutions to build unions in the coming time.

Many foreign tourists coming to Nha Trang for sightseeing and tourism love to ride cyclos to see the sights of the coastal city. Nha Trang is promoting the establishment of a cyclo union to serve customers more professionally and better.
